Allegany County, Maryland is unique in the opportunity to combine hiking, floating, horseback riding and biking into a one-stop outdoor experience. Nearly 60,000 acres of public lands are preserved and managed for recreation within the county, much of it accessible from the C&O Canal Tow Path, part of the Great Allegheny Passage experience east of Cumberland.
